Purpose of Position:
This position maintains the operational readiness of the communications and information sharing resources for the Department of Health, Epidemiology and Response Division - Bureau of Health Emergency Management. This position ensures readiness of communications and information sharing resources for the Bureau of Health Emergency Management by managing databases, overseeing health notification systems, daily operations of on-line information sharing platforms, and radio and satellite communications. The position is responsible for internal and external training, reporting, and maintaining a communication operational readiness to deal with emergencies and disasters. The position utilizes the State's communications networks, and collaborates with communications supervisors in other Department of Health Bureaus and other State departments. This position directly supervises the NM Health Alert Network (HAN) System Administrator and the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) State Volunteer Coordinator, and reports directly to the Healthcare Preparedness & Response Section Manager regarding budget and policies, strategic planning, and communications systems readiness.

A Bachelor's Degree in any field of study from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of heavy supervisory or limited professional level experience operating within strict parameters and guidelines directly related to the purpose of the position defined by the agency at the time of recruitment. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below. Agency may designate that a portion of the required experience to include supervisory and/or specialized experience. Any required licensure, certification or registration shall be defined at the time of recruitment and will be in addition to the above requirements.

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, stooping, bending, reaching and lifting up to twenty-five (25) pounds may be required. Some in-state, in-state overnight, and occasional out of state travel with overnight stay may be required.
This position is part of a state level emergency response team which requires staffing the NMDOH Department Operations Center (DOC) during drills, exercises, and real world emergencies, with long hours and possible emergency deployment to the field.
