![]() Bernalillo County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management Training Announcement Class Name: Sports and Special Event Evacuation Training and Exercise Course Number: MGT-412 Course Description: The Sport and Special Event Evacuation Training and Exercise Course will prepare sport venue managers to enhance evacuation planning capabilities and assist emergency responders in implementing flexible and scalable evacuation activities. The highly-innovative course builds multi-agency collaboration by delivering critical evacuation planning information utilizing TOP Venue, a computerized modeling simulation and visualization training system. Participants will have the opportunity to conduct evacuation analysis of a sport venue under a wide range of conditions. Course will include plans and policies specific to respective sport venues. This course is applicable to all sport venues, regardless of venue capacity. The membership form, updated for 2017 has been uploaded to the site (PDF format) and you can download it from the Membership page. Remember that dues must be in by January 12, 2017 and you must have paid your dues to be able to vote on issues at the quarterly meetings.

This 16-hour, classroom-based course is designed to provide planning and management-level skills to public and private sector event security planners who have a lead or supporting responsibility for event security planning. The audience for this course includes local and state law enforcement personnel who are often assigned responsibility for coordinating security for planned events, as well as other planners representing emergency management, emergency medical service (EMS), fire service, and public health. Participants will be provided with the essential skills and knowledge to understand the importance of and the need for planning and managing security for special events, and to identify guiding principles and components associated with event security. All forms need to be submitted to Mike Mestas, mestasm@sjces.net, no later than the January 6, 2017 so the awards committee can review them at the January meeting (01-12-2017) and have the necessary awards completed and ready for distribution by the NMEMA Conference in April 2017. There is a page in the nomination form that lists the necessary criteria and if you have any questions please reach out to the Awards Committee for clarification. Committee members are Mike Mestas, Kurt Parkinson, Michael Villa, and Seth Muller with Fred Hollis being the tie-breaker vote if needed. ![]()
