The New Mexico State Emergency Operations Center will be participating with a number of Amateur Radio Operators teams during the Amateur Radio Relay League (ARRL) Field Day. The purpose of this event is to get Amateur Radio Operators out of normal communications locations and to set up in parks, fields, or even the mountains and run off of emergency power like battery, solar, or generator. Clubs from all over the country get out and demonstrate what they can do in case of a disaster. The State EOC will be setting up emergency antennas and radios and operating out of one of the command trailers for Field Day and operating continuous for 24 hours starting at noon on June 25, 2016. This exercise is to assist the partnership with the EOC and the Amateur Community and to encourage others to assist and support their local Amateur Radio community. The teams here at the State EOC will have two missions, one will be field day normal operations to contact every state in the country and Canada and the second mission in the EOC communications room is to make contact with other state EOC’s participating in Field Day from a number of FEMA regions.
